Dearest Skyler,
Your school taught you the National Anthem a couple of weeks ago and you happily came home singing it over and over again and asked us to sing it with you since. The problem naturally was that you don't know how to speak Malay and you've been mispronouncing most of the words! :p You've even named the anthem Mari Kita even though the actual name is Majulah Singapura. Papa tries to correct you but to no avail.
You're so enthusiastic about the anthem that you even had Mama record it from the TV broadcast and then asked to watch the video clip over and over again. You would sit in front of the TV and press 'Play' after the song ends again and again. Hahahaaha! It's so cute to see you do that and it's good that you're keen about the country's national anthem but it's probably just another song for you and you most likely have no idea about the significance of the anthem.
Oh well, National Day is around the corner and that's usually when Singaporeans sing the song with gusto so it's good that your school has taught you the song.

The National Flag
Dearest Princesses,
You have been introduced the national symbols quite a bit these days as National Day is around the corner. As part of the preparations for this day, our Residents' Committee has decorated the common areas with national flags, etc.
Mama has taken to bringing you both to touch the flags that they've planted into the ground near where you wait for the school bus, Skyler. It's very sweet to see you hold the flags still so that Ashley can touch them as well.
Skyler, you're old enough to know what that celebrations will be held though Papa's not sure if you can understand the significance yet.

Haircuts
Dearest Princesses,
You both finally got haircuts!
We brought you both to the Point at night to have your hair cuts. Skyler, your hair had grown long for some time already but we just didn't have time to bring you to get it cut. We finally did so and you were so comfortable with the process now that you were willing to look up at Uncle Alvin who cut your hair. This made it easier for him to cut your hair properly as he could finally see how to cut it straight unlike previously where he had to guess what cutting straight was.
After Skyler was done, the uncles and aunties there, who were totally free by the way, saw you Ashley, and started telling us that you should have your fringe cut too as it was getting a bit long and would therefore be uncomfortable for you. We allowed ourselves to be persuaded and allowed Uncle Alvin to snip off a bit of your fringe too, Ashley. This was your first hair cut ever!
Well, we're glad that Uncle Alvin has become your hairdresser for now. He has been dependable and patient thus far.
When we were leaving, Mama asked Uncle Alvin how much it would cost for a full hair cut for you, Skyler, and he replied $12. This really makes us even more disgusted with the Junior League hairdressing chain. They charge a whole $17 and their service and quality is so so so so so so so bad!!!! We will never go there ever again and will definitely not recommend anyone go there!

Water Play
Dearest Princesses,
We finally brought you both to the water play area in the zoo!
Skyler, you'd wanted to play there for some time already but we could not bring you as most of the time, Papa was the only one who brought you both there and there was no way Papa could watch you both in that area.
Previously, Grandma had come along and Papa had hoped that she could watch you, Ashley, while Papa brought you, Skyler, to play with the water apparatus. However, when we got there, we were told that the area had been closed for repairs! Papa was so disappointed! We'd brought everything that we needed along and Papa had left work earlier so that we could play there! Thankfully, you didn't seem to be so badly affected by this.
Anyway, we finally did it. The only problem was, we got there very late. By the time we got there and changed, we hardly had time to play with the water before they switched off the water. That didn't stop you, Skyler, from enjoying yourself by playing with the water pools. Ashley, you enjoyed yourself too splashing around with che-che.
We quickly got changed after that. They had built a somewhat cute shower area in the shape of an octopus / squid? The shower heads were the tentacles and people could have a quick shower there.
We are so glad that you girls enjoy playing with water so much!

Swimming
Dearest Princesses,
We all went to the swimming pool today! It's been a long time since we brought you to the pool, Skyler! You must have missed it so much as you so enjoyed it whenever we brought you previously. And it was the first time that we brought you, Ashley!
Instead of heading all the way to the usual pool, we decided to make use of our relative's condominium pool near our home as we then didn't have to travel so far. And since it is a private pool, there wouldn't be so many people there.
Wow! We had so many things to bring along! Each of us needed a towel, swim suit, clothing, shower stuff, etc! We really had to think long and hard when we packed so that we didn't miss out on anything that would have prevented us from swimming! :p
As the pool was a bit too deep for you to stand in, Ashley, we had to carry you throughout our time there. You happily flapped your arms in the water the whole time we were there! :D We are so glad that you don't have a fear of the swimming pool like what we hear that a few little ones have.
Skyler, you were so happy to be back at the swimming pool again that you couldn't stop walking around the pool. We had bought a couple of squirters for you to play with and you had fun playing with yours. Ashley, we had bought one for you too but there is no way you can use it yet. We will use it until you are able to operate it, okay?
As this was the first time in the pool for you, Ashley, we decided to keep it short as we were afraid that you would catch a cold. It was a really tough time trying to shower you after that as you couldn't stand stably and we ended up carrying you throughout your shower. It was a dangerous time as you were so slippery with all the soap and water. :p
Well, we are glad that you girls both enjoyed yourselves in the pool. We will continue to bring when we can since you both like it so much.

Sleep
Dearest Ashley,
You're still not sleeping through the night, Darling. You wake up a few times throughout the night and awaken us thereby disrupting our sleep still. The good thing is that you fall asleep a lot easier nowadays when it is bed time so we do not have to carry you for too long.
Papa has taken to letting you sleep on his chest after you've fallen asleep while waiting for che-che to fall asleep in the room so that she would not wake you up. After che-che has fallen asleep, Papa would then place you on your bed.
However, Papa has gotten carried away with this - every time you wake up now, Papa would carry you until you fell back asleep and then will let you sleep on his chest while he lay down to sleep too. You seem to be able to sleep quite well like this. But we think that this doesn't help you to learn to sleep on your own in your own bed so Papa's going to stop doing this, okay?

The Little Gym
Dearest Princesses,
Both of you got to attend a trial session at The Little Gym at Marina Square in July. Skyler, you'd been attending lessons at this gym for a while before Ashley was born but we had to stop bringing you after Ashley was here as we didn't have the time to do so.
However, they've opened a new branch at Marina Square and they are trying to get members so they conducted trial sessions throughout July and we managed to bring you both for one session each.
Skyler, we can no longer accompany you in the class as they feel that you are old enough to manage on your own and they are right. You totally enjoyed yourself in there during your session and didn't need us in there with you at all. You had so much fun going through all the gym moves again.
Ashley, you also went through your session there but with Mama accompanying you as you are still too little to do anything by yourself. You also enjoyed yourself quite a lot.
Skyler, you initially had forgotten your favourite teacher, Teacher Pearl, from this gym. However, now, you're reunited with her as the session that we can bring you for is taught by her. She's also one of the better teachers that the gym has. We are impressed with her ability to manage all of you and maintain safety as well.
We decided to sign you up for classes again, Skyler, as you so enjoy this, and we can bring you again since Ashley's big enough to come along already. We managed to take advantage of the sessions in July once we signed you up. The free trials lasted the whole month and the moment we signed you up, you were entitled to attend all the free trial sessions.
Ashley, we decided against sending you now as you are still quite little and you do not really know what's going on. We'll probably bring you when you're older, okay?

Cell Group
Dearest Princesses,
We went for a home cell group today. A home cell group is a small group from our church who meet together at the home of a member (usually appointed the group leader) for fellowship and sometimes bible study.
This was the first time we went for one in our new church so we were all quite excited. You got to play with the children of the other members there and both of you were quite well taken care of. They were hosting a mission team (a group of people who were going overseas to share Christ with the non-believers there) so we had a dinner before the team shared their goals with us.
While the team was sharing with the adults, you children went into a bedroom to play with the toys there and you enjoyed yourselves tremendously as these children were new friends and they were really taking care of you both.
After we left, Skyler, you said that you would want to go back there again. :D
